Back in August, we got notification that we had been shortlisted in the Transforming Lives category alongside Elfrida Rathbone Camden and Centre 81 as part of the Locality Awards 2018. Both are fantastic organisations making a huge difference within local communities and you should definitely check them out!
Locality are a national membership network for community organisations. They aim to support local organisations in fulfilling their true potential. Locality have four areas of work:
- peer learning and connection through the membership network
- providing resources to local people to get involved in changing their community
- specialist advice and support
- campaigning to create better operating environments for community organisations
Fast forward to one night in November, a 400 mile round trip to Bristol and back, we are extremely proud to announce Moving On Durham have won the first ever Transforming Lives category (supported by Unity Trust Bank) at the Locality Awards 2018.
The response since receiving the award has been quite overwhelming and we are truly honoured to have been recognised for all the hard work we put into supporting vulnerable and homeless young people in our community.
We really hope this award will shed some light on some of the fantastic work this organisation does in breaking the cycle of homelessness in County Durham.
A special thank you to everyone involved with Locality 2018 for hosting a terrific awards evening.
