Moving on Durham has a particular interest in supporting young people who have experienced care. Care leavers often arrive with us in a confused, chaotic, or un-prepared state. They are often very young and have a range of challenges and barriers that make it difficult to live independently. Care leavers tend to need a higher level of support than we can offer in our standard service.
Thanks to a three year grant of £180,000 from the Henry Smith Charity, we have been able to recruit two new intensive support workers, who will work specifically with care leavers to help them learn independent living skills, improve their mental and physical health and develop a place in society.
