About Moving On
As Durham’s leading youth homelessness charity, we support 16 to 25‑year‑olds who are experiencing, or are at risk of, homelessness.
Our Aims: Durham’s leading homelessness charity
We believe every vulnerable or homeless young person deserves a safe home and a fresh start.
By helping each young person to move towards their personal goals and aspirations, we aim to break the cycle of homelessness.

Our Focus: helping vulnerable young people to find a home
We have been supporting 16 – 25 year olds in County Durham since 1998.
As we aren’t a housing association, or own any property, we do not place unnecessary focus on the acquisition and management of housing stock.
Instead, we focus on the needs of our young people, putting their development at the front and centre of our business model.

Our Approach: supporting young people to live independently
The Moving On Durham charity support team is made up of specialist youth workers and a professional housing team.
Using strengths-based methods to address the challenges facing our young people, we aim to enable their transition from a place of chaotic housing need to a position of security, knowledge and confidence.
Our blend of skills and experience allows us to put the development of life-skills first, with specialist input from housing professionals to help our young people sustain their tenancies and live independently.
